As India is celebrating 2023 as the International Year for Millets and hosting the G20 presidency it has become an opportunity for showcasing its ‘Sri Anna’- Millets and its benefits to the World.
 

Millets And Climate change -  India along with the world is facing the problem of climate change and groundwater depletion,millets with its long shelf life has become a more viable option as they require less water than other coarse cereals and are more tolerant to droughts and extreme weather conditions and can be grown in rain fed and hilly areas without irrigation.

Millets and Health - Millets are rich in Protein,Fibre and Micronutrients such as Zinc,Iron which helps in reducing Anemia, Fibre helps to improving guts microbiota and also lowering blood sugar level, Obesity, Diabetes and Cardiovascular diseases with its Low Glycemic Index.

  

Millets and India - Government is planning to include these ‘nutri cereals' in Public Distribution system as it will fulfil the need for a Diversified Nutritional food basket and also in the form of “millets canteen” in Government Hospitals and Canteens,also with its push in this direction the country is going to see a large demand of these ‘nutri cereals’ and which in turn going to help the farmers in earning comparatively high income.
